Khunchomer

Khunchomer

“And, so, it came to pass that the daring Dshadir received a Khunchomer that was worthy of a hero. The hilt was set with sparkling adamants the size of fists. Its blade was hardened in the blood of the hated lizard creatures and was imbued with the mighty energy of the stars, so that it would never break while its wielder lived an honorable life.”
— a storyteller overheard in the bazaar of Khunchom, modern

The Khunchomer, which takes its name from the city of Khunchom, is the Tulamydian version of the saber. The design is said to be very old, which is presumably why this artfully crafted scimitar can be found among amateur and professional warriors of the Tulamydes and Novadi who daringly wear it without a scabbard. In this way, they command more respect from the populace.

The blade is unbalanced in all visually distinct variants, and its rugged blade contributes to the legendary reputations of certain sword masters.

Through the centuries, Tulamyde smiths often experimented with refining and improving the Khunchomer’s design, but they felt no need to account for plate armor, which remains rare in the Lands of the Tulamydes.

Tulamydian legends overflow with tales of gem-encrusted and magical Khunchomers wielded by heroes and villains, most of which are apparently lost to time, if they ever did exist.

“Before I began my magical training, I wanted to be a warrior. I was enamored with the Thalusan Guards, who wear shining armor and carry sharp Khunchomers.”
