Nightwind

“The nightwind warrior overcomes an enemy like a falcon overtakes its prey: quickly and without warning.”
— Dajina of Uzlugazib, to her students, 1037 FB

The nightwind sword is a Maraskani weapon with a long, single-edged, blackened blade that reflects no light, revealing no signs of its presence in darkness. Its disc-shaped cross-guard hinders lightning attacks but aids in defense. Assassins and other unsavory types favor this weapon, and their evil reputation has transferred to the nightwind.

One special feature of the nightwind is the ability to form an improvised ladder from at least two nightwind swords and their scabbards. Longer ladders are possible with additional weapons.

The sword gets its name from dangerous, magic-hating birds called nightwinds that take advantage of their dark plumage to ambush their prey at night, just like an assassin striking from cover with a blackened sword.

Unlike the larger Tuzak knife, the nightwind may be wielded with either one hand or two.

“You can make a ladder out of it? What crazy Maraskani thought of that?”
