Tuzak Knife
“No blade on Dere compares to the Tuzak knife. It cuts leather and wood, flesh and bone. Draw your blade only when you intend to kill.”
— Dajina of Uzlugazib, addressing her students, 1037 FB
This slightly curved, two-handed sword is the epitome of Maraskani weapon-smithing. Its sharp, well-balanced blade slices cleanly through most materials and holds up well in combat.
The weapon gets its name from Tuzak, its place of origin. Maraskanis call it a knife because it is single-edged (to them, true swords are double-edged). The Tuzak knife accommodates fluid fighting styles, and skilled fighters know how to take advantage of the blade’s shape and length to deliver the strongest blows.
Unlike other two-handed swords, the Tuzak knife is not well-suited for smashing shields.
