Tuzak Knife

“No blade on Dere compares to the Tuzak knife. It cuts leather and wood, flesh and bone. Draw your blade only when you intend to kill.”
— Dajina of Uzlugazib, addressing her students, 1037 FB

This slightly curved, two-handed sword is the epitome of Maraskani weapon-smithing. Its sharp, well-balanced blade slices cleanly through most materials and holds up well in combat.

The weapon gets its name from Tuzak, its place of origin. Maraskanis call it a knife because it is single-edged (to them, true swords are double-edged). The Tuzak knife accommodates fluid fighting styles, and skilled fighters know how to take advantage of the blade’s shape and length to deliver the strongest blows.

Unlike other two-handed swords, the Tuzak knife is not well-suited for smashing shields.

Mirhiban al’Orhima, Tulamydian fire mage

“When the Maraskani attacked my home city, many of their warriors carried Tuzak knives. I saw terrible things that day.”

— Mirhiban al’Orhima, Tulamydian fire mage

Arbosh son of Angrax, forge dwarf master smith

“This is good steel—considering it was made by humans.”

— Arbosh son of Angrax, forge dwarf master smith

Tjalva Garheltsdottir, Hetja of Prem

“Sure, it’s deadly, but a weapon is only as good as its wielder.”

— Tjalva Garheltsdottir, Hetja of Prem
