The Maraskani discus is 12 to 15 inches in diameter and one of the most unusual ranged weapons in the world. The discus thrower twists at the waist and then throws the discus from the hip, aiming for the target.

The weapon can strike with the force of a throwing club, but takes practice to master. Maraskanis mainly use discuses for hunting and sport, but sometimes also use them as weapons of war. Some discuses are designed to make a terrifying whistling sound when thrown, to frighten enemies.

Discuses are common on Maraskan but practically unknown in Aventuria, except in colonies of Maraskani exiles in Khunchom, Al’Anfa, Festum, and some areas in the Lands of the Tulamydes. The discus became more common in the contested Yalaiad peninsula when the Maraskani joined the invasion.
