Blacksmith’s Hammer
“I used to look down on the blacksmith’s trade. As a bookworm and Nandurite, it seemed neither interesting nor important. Tall, brawny men and women hitting pieces of iron with hammers…. But, when I saw Thorn Eisinger, the Smith of a Hundred Heroes, swing his blacksmith’s hammer, I couldn’t help but watch in awe.”
—Eglamo Wagonholder, Nandurite, 1037 FB
A blacksmith’s hammer may resemble a weapon, but closer investigation reveals it is top-heavy and unsuited to parrying and making feints. This signature, pleasing unto Ingerimm tool of Aventurian smiths is designed only to strike hot steel and, so, give it form. Forging requires strength and endurance—traits that all blacksmiths share.

“Of course, when no weapon is available, you can always crush orc skulls with a blacksmith’s hammer, but this tool was not made for combat. Luckily, hammers and other gifts from Angrosh allow us to craft much more useful weapons.”
—Arbosh son of Angrax, forge dwarf master smith
