Phial
“Quickly, drink this!”
-Overheard after a fierce battle
Alchemists commonly use phials (small bottles with pronounced bodies and slender necks) to store helpful potions, poisons, alchemical ingredients, perfumes, and oils.
Phials are usually made from clay and glass. Alchemists prefer glass as its translucency allows easy viewing of the contents.
Adventurers worry that glass is too fragile, but phials are relatively thick and usually survive accidental falls without breaking. Even so, they break easily when smashed against stone or marble floors.
Alchemical phials may be sealed with a stopper made from wood or cork. Magnificent decorative phials, such as those made to hold perfume, come with glass stoppers that often are decorated in a similar fashion.
