Rope, Binding
“Next to scoundrels and adventurers, my Church is probably the largest consumer of binding ropes. I’ll tell you the reason for that when you’re a bit older, Alrik.”
-Shanya ash Shaya, Blessed One of Rahja, 1035 FB
A binding rope is usually a thin, sturdy rope about 3 feet long. They are often made from twisted leather or plant fibers such as hemp, and while no thicker than a pinky, they strongly resist breaking.
Such ropes are well suited to bind someone. City guards and even henchmen of brutal underworld bosses carry one or two for just this purpose.
However, to be effective, binding someone requires proper knots. An especially cruel use of leather binding ropes involves soaking them with water before use. Leather shrinks as it dries, straining stretched limbs or restricting blood flow. This effect is not possible with ropes made from a different material.
Ropes for binding are sold almost everywhere due to their great variety of uses and the availability of materials.

“These ropes make it easy to restrain an enemy, but you’d better know how to tie a good knot, too.”
