Hook Dagger

“Al’Anfans amuse themselves with fights between slaves armed with hook daggers. It’s a cruel, bloody affair.”
-Silvario Dellamonte, Meridian questador, 1035 FB

The hook dagger is a Tulamydian parrying weapon. As its name suggests, it has two hook-shaped tines that are reminiscent of a fork. The blade has a diamond cross-section and is somewhat longer than the two hooks. Even at 23 inches in length, hook daggers are not well suited for attacking. Opponents often sneer when encountering hook daggers for the first time, but these unusual daggers easily trap enemy weapons, giving their wielders an instant advantage. The hook dagger’s main problem is that it can be just as dangerous to its wielder.

Geron Bladebreaker, mercenary

“I recommend that you stick to a main gauche, which is more reliable and easier to grip.”

— Geron Bladebreaker, mercenary

Carolan Calavanti, Vinsaltan vagabond

“The main gauche is the better choice, I agree, but don’t underestimate the hook dagger. Opponents begin to worry when their weapons keep getting snagged.”

— Carolan Calavanti, Vinsaltan vagabond

Weapon Advantage: When the hook dagger contributes to a successful parry, roll 1D6. On 1-2, apply a -1 penalty to the opponent’s AT for the next CR. This rule does not apply when fighting an unarmed opponent.

Weapon Disadvantage: Make a botch confirmation roll on an AT roll of 19+ instead of 20 (a botch is more likely).
