Hunting Knife
“No elf, no hunter, and certainly no ranger would ever set foot outside without a hunting knife.”
-Haal Mountaindweller, hunter, 1034 FB
The hunting knife is an exceptionally sharp knife that is adapted for skinning animals. Some versions also feature a saw blade and a hook for gutting game, to make the work easier.
All things being equal, the hunting knife is best defined as a tool rather than as a weapon. Nevertheless, hunters, elven warriors, and rangers use the hunting knife as a weapon if necessary. It has no cross-guard, which makes it highly unsuitable for parrying longer weapons, but it can still inflict grievous wounds.
