Wolf-knife

“Rarely have I seen a finer blade. It is said that the elves weave magic into their forged weapons, and I think the wolf-knife is proof of this.”
— Xaron of Punin, guild mage, modern

The wolf-knife is an elven weapon that probably originated in the time of the high elves. Most blades still in use today are only replicas of legendary wolf-knives from ages past. Though still usually of high quality, modern wolf-knives don’t incorporate magic, as elves have largely forgotten the art of forging magical weapons.

The wolf-knife’s unusual blade is triangular in crosssection, allowing this fencing weapon to be used for cutting as well.

To take advantage of its strengths, wielders must practice a quick, precise fighting style. Many elves exclusively use wolf-knives in two-weapon combat, but sometimes combine them with a dagger or short sword. Wolf-knives do not work well with longer weapons. Non-elves often have trouble adapting to the wolf-knife’s proportions.

Weapon Advantage: When opponents have the same INI value, the one with the wolf-knife always strikes first. When the opponent also wields a wolf-knife, apply the normal rules for order of action (see Core Rules, page 227).

Weapon Disadvantage: When attacking with two weapons (using two-weapon combat) in one CR, and the second weapon has a reach of medium, the second attack receives a -1 penalty to AT. When wielding a wolf-knife, non-elves receive a -1 penalty to AT, PA, and DP.
