The battle-axe is popular with warriors across the continent. Numerous variants incorporate larger or smaller blades, spikes or hammerheads as counterweights, or elaborate decorations. Some are engineered for dwarves and, according to rumor, even for trolls. The legendary Swordking is said to have wielded a pair of artfully crafted battle-axes.

People in northern Aventuria, particularly in the Svellt Valley, refer to the battle-axe as a hatchet.
