Mace
“You say this is the weapon of bandits and other scoundrels? How dare you! Where I come from, the mace is the symbol of knighthood! Speak in this manner again and I’ll show you what a mace can do.”
— A Weidenan knight to warrior from Punin, at the tournament of Gareth, 1027 FB
Opinions differ as to whether a mace must have leaf shaped or jagged striking surfaces, or even spikes. But everyone agrees that this brutal and intimidating weapon is comparably simple and affordable to craft. For this reason, the mace often is found in the hands of fighters who aren’t particularly wealthy or who cannot fight particularly well, or both. It is often assigned to militias and other quickly mustered units of infantry and is, therefore, usually considered a weapon of bandits and territorial armies.
Even in the hands of unskilled fighters, maces can cause devastating injuries. A master with the mace is a truly dangerous opponent.
