Orc-nose
“Everyone around here recognizes the Thorwaler axe. Even a rumor of attack from axe-wielding pirates is enough to scare you witless.”
— Herowin Meeltheuer, merchant from Windhag, 1036 FB
Ask children to imagine a Thorwaler with an axe, and they probably picture a Premian warrior with an orc-nose. The origin of this weapon’s name is unknown, as the axe certainly does not resemble an orc’s nose. Rather, the name may stem from the countless battles that have been waged against the orcs throughout history.
The orc-nose was made to split skulls and smash shields, and Thorwalers know this. Besides being their traditional dueling weapon, this axe is so common on sea raids that nearly everyone on the Sevenwind Coast has seen an orc-nose up close. One minor drawback is that the axe is too short to deflect faster weapons such as daggers, rapiers, and foils. But if the orc-nose hits first, the fight is usually done.
