Raven’s Beak
“Take my advice. Never fight the Golgarites, no matter how much someone offers to pay you. Their weapons are unbeatable! After our battle, Alrik’s armor looked like a sieve! I was the lucky one. I suffered only a broken arm. I tell you, I’ll never work for necromancers again! Never!”
— An anonymous mercenary, speaking in a tavern in the Shadowlands, modern
This type of war hammer gets its name from its subtle similarity to the head of a raven. Particularly magnificent specimens, pleasing unto Boron, are deliberately shaped like one. The raven’s beak is the chosen weapon of the Order of the Golgarites, the fighting arm of the Church of Boron in Punin. In fact, many Boronis take up the raven’s beak to fight against undead, necromancers, and tomb robbers. The weapon’s head allows for several possibilities in combat. Mighty blows with the hammer head shatter undead bones, and the thorn-shaped spike can punch through sturdy armor.
Unsanctified variants of the raven’s beak are popular among cavalry units everywhere, and even with foot soldiers in southern Aventuria, where the weapon is known as a riding hammer.

“The raven’s beak is the preferred melee weapon of many heavy cavalry units. In southern Aventuria, where cavalry is uncommon, foot soldiers use raven’s beaks and shields.”
