Reaper
“Use broad, sweeping cuts. First left, then right. Like with a sickle.”
— Master Dajin to a pupil, 1033 FB
The long-bladed reaper is a further development of the war scythe. Unlike scythes, a reaper’s long blade is attached to a short wooden shaft. It usually serves as an impact weapon, though it is quite capable of inflicting terrible gashes. Since it requires two hands to wield, it cannot be used together with a shield. Reapers are maneuverable and particularly wellsuited to attacking targets to the front and sides. They can be used for a charge, like other polearms, even though they are significantly shorter than, for example, a war scythe.
The reaper seems to originate on Maraskan, where farmers use it the same way Middenrealmish farmers use scythes for the harvest. Due to the endless conflict on the island, the reaper is viewed by many as the preferred weapon of Maraskani rebels.

“At first glance, the reaper may seem unimpressive, but imagine an entire army of Maraskani peasants advancing toward you with these weapons.”
