Sleeping Bag

“I was told that the soldiers they rescued were on the brink of collapse, but they all survived thanks to their excellent sleeping bags.”
-Olgin Tamareff, Bornish officer, modern

Not everyone likes sleeping on hard ground in the wilderness. Quite a few people prefer a woolen blanket, a tent, and a warm, comfortable sleeping bag. Rumor has it that Blessed Ones of Aves invented sleeping bags and spread knowledge of them far and wide. Before that, poor wanderers were said to have slept in empty burlap or potato sacks.

The earliest sleeping bags consisted of thick patchwork cloth, but modern sleeping bags are made of a leather tube sewn on three sides and lined with sheep’s wool. They completely envelope the body (except for the head) and provide a warm, dry place to sleep. Some sleeping bags have an additional piece of cloth that functions similarly to a hood. When not in use, the hood rolls up and serves as a pillow.

When properly rolled up for travel, the sleeping bag can be buckled under the arm, attached to a strap on the backpack, or tied to a saddle.

“If your wool blanket isn’t made from Phraisheep wool, then I suggest you buy a good sleeping bag, or you’ll wish you had when it gets cold.”
