Katar
“I’ve seen this type of weapon before. On my journeys through myth-shrouded Uthuria, we saw many natives bearing daggers like these. It made me wonder how they came to be in the hands of Aventuria’s Forest Folk.”
-Silvario Dellamonte, Meridian questador, 1034 FB
Although the Forest Folk and the Utulu wield katars, scholars think this dagger design originated in distant Uthuria. Increasingly, katars are becoming more common among the tribal warriors of the south.
Historically, the katar is a weapon from the golden age of the Wudu, the legendary Forest Folk tribe whose magic relied upon bloody rituals. Newer katars sometimes consist of a chitin-like material, the source of which remains unknown to the rest of Aventuria. Different tribes of Forest Folk each use different materials to produce them.
This unusual dagger has a broad blade that narrows towards the tip. The hilt usually has no cross-guard, as the fingers must rest next to the blade. Katars are said to serve well against jaguars.
