Club
“You won’t believe this, but, yesterday, someone broke into my barn. Again! I work hard all day in my fields and look after my chickens to provide food for the kids, only to have cursed egg thieves break in during the night! Next time, they won’t get away, I’ll be waiting with my club. They’ll get a thrashing, I swear!”
— Farmer Freudwig, talking to his neighbor
The club is one of the simplest weapons known. Being little more than a broken branch or similar piece of wood, it is smaller and less effective than a cudgel. A club delivers a less powerful blow and breaks easily, but it can be wielded by almost anyone.
City guards often carry clubs as a convenient means of delivering punishment, and innkeepers and farmers carry them to defend against thieves and burglars.

“You, Hilbert? I can hardly think of anyone more peace-loving. What caused you to use a club?”

“Long ago, some brigands tried to abduct me and ransom me back to the Church. I convinced most of them that this would jeopardize their souls, but their stubborn leader held a grudge against Peraine, so they persisted in trying to take me captive. The next thing I knew, I had a club in my hand, and I dealt the leader a hard blow to the head. Well, after that, the brigands treated me with more respect.”
